It's important to be clear from the outset when we refer to weight loss we are actually talking about FAT loss rather than weight loss.

Bolocofsky et al. (1985) examined the differential benefit of a behavioural weight loss program with a hypnotic induction compared with just the behavioural treatment among 109 individuals aged 17–67. Individuals who participated in both conditions lost a significant amount of weight compared with baseline. However, adding hypnosis to the behavioural regime appeared to contribute to continued weight loss. Those who received both the behavioural and hypnosis components were found to have lost significantly more weight at the 8-month and 2-year follow- up visits compared with those who had participated in the behavioural treatment condition.
